Before retiring from The Seattle Times in 2019 and moving to central Washington with wife Alisa, we lived and raised our family in Marysville. Our house was in a bedroom community 35 miles from Seattle. I'm a country boy at heart and was able to find country themes close to home. The horse corral was just up the street from our house. Maybe we had a real cowboy living in town. The grain facility is in Silvana, a farm town 13 miles from Marysville. It's now a seed warehouse. The town has several old barns with diamond shaped windows. It was a thing back then.
