The Waterville Plateau in north-central Washington is one large plain. Wheat fields stretch as far as you can see with U.S. Route 2 carved through the middle east to west. On both sides is a network of primitive roads, some paved but most of them gravel and dirt. That's where I found the old farmhouse just off U.S. 2. A person could spend months or years on the back roads and not see everything. I stayed off the road below for obvious reasons.
