This abandoned wheat farm on Washington's high desert is in ruins. But I was drawn to it anyway. Fifty years ago the ranch house must have been stunning with a covered porch on two sides (one of the sides has collapsed). I can see kids sitting there sipping lemonade and watching a prairie sunset. With a chorus of crickets. The house is surrounded by outbuildings and a barn that has aged well. I captured the sunflowers in the corner of a wheat field off U.S. Route 2, a few miles from this farm.
