The neon glow of the Bruce and Empire hotels in Wenatchee, Wash., burned out long ago. The signs are rusty relics. But that's the beauty of them. To me they are abstract art, especially the letter fonts at the Bruce, a low-income housing facility. The Empire has second-floor rooms in a crusty brick building above Wally's House of Booze.
