Abandoned railcars are rust magnets. They ooze and drip colors on an iron canvas, creating abstract art without the stroke of a brush. The streaks above decorate a coal car behind a retired stream locomotive in Snoqualmie, Wash. Dozens of old trains and railcars, including the peeling relics below, are parked on two sidebracks in this boneyard east of Seattle. Old trains are celebrated here. The Northwest Railway Museum, housed in a Victorian depot built in 1890, offers weekend train rides in the upper Snoqualmie Valley April through October.
