When I picked up my 36-exposure film roll from the processing lab I was surprised my two best shots featured circles – a farm windmill and sunflower disk. I shot them in Cle Elum, Wash., where my daughter was getting married. During a break from wedding preparation I jumped in the SUV with my 35mm film gear to explore the countryside. I had to be quick because I was expected back in a half hour. The rusty windmill, which someone had made into a sculpture, shares an open field with old farm vehicles and equipment. I found the sunflower patch along a country road leading to the windmill.
