The cattle ranch, nestled in a valley off Highway 97 in central Washington, is photograhic eye candy. The barn and a few scattered outbuildings are framed by the Cascade foothills. As I walked through knee-high grass to get the shot above I passed a pile of white bones, proof this still is a semi-wild frontier. Elk herds occasionally move through the property. The barn was built in 1914 and owned by the Burke-Dunford family. The feed silo is constructed of wood, a feature I have seen only one other place in Washington farm country.
