This old farm on a dead-end road near Silvana, Wash., is my go-to location when I get city fatigue (I work in downtown Seattle). It is 20 minutes from my front door, just off Interstate 5 and Pioneer Highway. It's isolated and quiet. My only company is the occasional hawk soaring in circles above me. The barn is impressive despite its age. Like many of the barns built in this valley in the early 1900s, Big Red has diamond-shaped windows in front. The fence below with the rodeo cowboy is five minutes from my house. When I pass by I feel like I'm in Wyoming or something. Here's what the red barn looks like on Kodak Portra 400 film, shot in 2018.
