Chasing sunsets is hit and miss in photography. Mostly miss. Now and then you get lucky. Or as Ansel Adams once said, "Sometimes I arrive just when God's ready to have someone click the shutter." I was ready to click the shutter when the setting sun peeked through a lighthouse window on the Mukilteo, Wash., waterfront. The light show was even more spectacular when the sun dipped below the horizon, piercing the cobalt blue sky with streaks of burnt orange. Velvia, a high-saturation film, worked its magic.
